KPC Awarded PROPER Gold for Environmental Management

PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), was again awarded Gold Certificate, the highest award in the Environmental Performance Rating Program (PROPER) for 2016-2017.

The award was handed over by East Kalimantan Governor, Awang Faroek Ishak, and received by GM External Affairs and Sustainable Development (ESD), Wawan Setiawan, at Lamin Etam, Samarinda, Tuesday (13/6).

Gold PROPER received by KPC in 2017, complements the achievement of Green PROPER which has been accepted in 2016. Department of Environment stated that KPC has received Gold PROPER for 14 times.

KPC General Manager of External Affairs and Sustainable Development (GM ESD), Wawan Setiawan, said KPC always innovates to achieve better environmental conditions in the mining process.

This award, according to Wawan, is dedicated to employees and all communities who have supported the company’s operations. “We dedicate this award to all employees who have worked hard and all the people who have supported the company’s operations,” said Wawan.

Gold PROPER itself means the company has conducted environmental management beyond compliance and has made 3R (Reuse, Recycle, Recovery) efforts. In addition, KPC also implements sustainable environmental management system, and make some efforts that are useful for the interests of society in the long term.

Beside receiving the PROPER Golden for Environmental Management, KPC also received an award as a participating company in the Adiwiyata School Program in East Kutai.

This award is related to the role of KPC in supporting the growing of Adiwiyata School in East Kutai. The award was also presented by East Kalimantan Governor Awang Faroek Ishak and received by Environment Manager Kris Pranoto, at the same event.(*)
