The impact of the Lombok and surrounding earthquakes since the first earthquake on Sunday (29/7) caused 555 people died, 431,416 people were displaced and 74,361 houses were badly damaged. Data released by the Information Data Center and Public Relations of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), total material damage is estimated to reach Rp 7.7 trillion.
As part of Indonesian citizens, PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) was also concerned about the earthquake. KPC deployed nine rescue teams to Lombok as a form of sympathy to help earthquake victims. Nine of these teams were deployed in two stages, each of six people starting on 6-17 August 2018 and three people on 15-26 August 2018.
General Manager of the External Affairs and Sustainable Development (ESD) Wawan Setiawan said that the rescue team joined the other rescue team from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) and a team of doctors and nurses from other agencies. “Every day they participate in searching for victims in ruins and joining the health team to help victims in evacuation posts,” said Wawan.
“This is a form of KPC’s participation in helping the victims. They work under the coordination of the rescue team from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), who joined dozens of other mining companies, “said Wawan.
“We do hope that Lombok will rise again soon. With the support of the entire community and of course the work of the government, Lombok will rise again, “Wawan added. (*)
