KPC Donates Ventilator For Covid-19 Patients in East Kutai

The support of the acceleration of COVID-19 handlers in East Kutai has been realized by PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC). This time the coal mining company donated a ventilator and a number of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the medical team.

The donation was submitted by the General Manager of External Affairs and Sustainable Development (GM ESD) Wawan Setiawan and received directly by the East Kutai Regent Ir H Ismunandar MT, at the Command Post Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19, at the Kutim BPBD Office, Jalan Soekarno-Hatta, Thursday (4/30/2020).

Ventilators are a medical device that has a very important function for COVID-19 patients, especially critical patients. Simply put the machine functions to support or assist the patient’s breathing. “Through this tool, patients who have difficulty breathing will be helped to get air and breathe like normal people,” Wawan said after the handover ceremony.

The SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID-19, is known to attack the breathing system and interfere the normal functioning of cells in the lungs. When the patient is critically ill and has difficulty breathing, the ventilator has an important role to help the patient breathe.

East Kutai Regent Ismunandar expressed his gratitude for KPC’s support for the Task Force for the acceleration of COVID 19 Handling in East Kutai. The Regent hoped that the multi-party synergy in handling this corona outbreak could stop the rate of transmission of the virus in the community.
